WELCOME
This is a place where ramblings, details about plots and whatever odds and ends in the table top style Dungeons & Dragons game that I run locally in what we're calling the “Caislen Campaign” end up. This is a Wiki format, there are some hidden DM notes that don't appear to mere mortals, there are some comments that you'll only see when editing a page as a player, etc. Players get to take a crack at leaving notes about their own characters and the trimmings if they wish too. If it amuses anyone else, great. Ultimately everyone who ever ran a game writes too much lore, players ignore it or forget it, and the likes of this website become more suited for writing a novel or something. But that never stops a DM from working on their notes obsessively anyway! Start below by browsing stuff.

Recent Session Notes
- In a very emotional game session1) as Eyrun, Jules, Urist & Alimir re-familiarized themselves with the Goldvale area…
- For whatever reason we clarified that it is the Fall season in Goldvale.
- Fig-Daisy took The Party into the Dense Forest to retrieve Slapples. This resulted in also acquiring some Rotreed Arrows, getting paid and getting the good will of her husband Phil, although not visiting him after the fact. The Party has been asked by Ema to get Phil to develop a new potion that can cure her rapidly aging children that seem to be plant-elf hybrids. So the goal is to get Phil to comply and helping his new wife should get him to. Hopefully.
- Leithe told The Party that she wants to add mushrooms to her burgers and tasked them to visit the Fungi Circle to see if they could find a good source.
- Nystor “The Bar Guy” gossiped that Sunny is being held by members of The Cult Of Alden near the Shrine Of Hayte.
- The Party discovered via gossip that there are a small flock of Harthi2) who are now members of the Order Of The Lost Socks.
- Preston, undead “Bard of the Seas” became the new legal owner of the Mirror House after Eyrun & Jules vanished for several months. A visit to the house revealed some hurt feelings about this. Worse, Preston has taken on a living flesh like appearance thanks to certain statues present in the house and is fine with it.
- Wyrd Uncle Lugo gossiped to The Party that when they opened Krymec's Vault some things came through to Goldvale that do not belong. Most noteworthy is a foreign monster that headed to the Zerk Swamp known as the Lundersnooch & a powerful vampire that headed to Sucker Lake that he thinks Jules needs to go full ranger monster hunter on before some vampire chaos has a chance to form.
- Wyrd Uncle Lugo told Jules and The Party about Skip going to look for treasure at the Rusty Cave. This marked the once again decline of Skip as greed made him wander there. A concerned Jules led The Party there and a trapped gold vault became the means by which Eyrun met her fate.
- Urist while struggling to cope inside of the trap drew cards from the infamous “Deck of Many Things” and the lasting fallout from that is a knight now loyally serves him until death.
- For all intents and purposes during this game session Matilda was declared to be staying in a room at The Card House resting which is why she was not part of the shenanigans.
The Death Of Eyrun Nephele
The tale of Eyrun Nephele is told here in the form of many notes, across all sorts of writings on our campaign's website. To honor her memory, just click here and see everything that traces back to her. From her backstory arose Mythburg, her time roaming as a cleric developed Silfralta, and then there's the very interesting little odds and ends one might not expect. Chances are the legacy of Eyrun Nephele will continue in some unexpected way.
- In a game session3) that finally concluded being in the Havenspass region once and for all…
- “The Party” consisting of Eyrun, Jules, Urist, Alimir and Matilda along with NPC Phoebe chose to not steal from the blue dragon who lives in the Cloudfire Mountains, nor take the dragon's familiar, a squirrel, up on help to sneak through the dragon lair to reach the top of the mountains.
- Instead the finished their ascent to the top of the mountains by quickly sneaking past the infamous Mons-ophagus in spite of Phoebe's attempts to start a combat with it.
- With that danger aside they were attacked by the duo of the dragon's familiar squirrel who teamed up with Milo, wielding the Shovel Of Alden. The pair was neutralized but not killed, shovel snatched by The Party, and then the player characters put some distance between themselves and that duo. All they know is that the intention of the duo was to get to Goldvale where the shovel came from and see if they could acquire more powerful things. Or at least that was Milo's intention. No one is sure what the squirrel is playing at given his status as a familiar of a blue dragon.
- Some attempts were made to transit down to Havenspass via Korst's Hole but this resulted in a lot of fights with undead and a very infectious troll who gave Urist Trolloplasmosis, which was later cured by the Spring Of Purity. The Party gave up trying to take this path further.
- After defeating a troll inside of Korst's Hole the party acquired Kelthor's Book Of Great Awareness. Everyone opened the book and learned something unique.
- Jules learned that there is more to Lugo's Purple Potion than she knew.
- Phoebe also learned about the potion when she read the book…
- Matilda read the book to see text explaining her deepest desire, which is to have a warlock style patron that helps her with her goals of orchestrating the downfall of corrupt regimes, generating wealth and finding reliable partners in crime. It said she will find this at the Warlock Well in a town called Goldvale.
- All of this collectively triggered The Party to get off the Cloudfire Mountains for new reasons.
- At the Cloud Giant Shrine, Eyrun the Cleric of Silfralta traded in her Cloudstone Ring for a BIGGER version that can summon a small cloud island.
- DM's Note: This cloud island shall now be referred to as Eyrun-alta.
- Eyrun summoned Eyrun-alta for the first time and everyone escaped one more attack by the duo of squirrel and Milo and used the island to transit to Goldvale, thus ending the Havenspass saga.
- “Snitches Get Stitches”4) - due to not releasing spoilers for this session that wasn't attended by one key player, details are not being elaborated on here at this time.
- Apparently there is a certain Barbarian that deserves some stitches because he caved and gave out information to a certain Ranger…
- “Woodchuck Day Event, Part 2.”5)
- Starting at 6am from the entrance to the pyramid in the Ensorcelled Desert, The Party tried a different route to escape. They encountered some sand dunes where a guy was hiding and Eyrun's magical teapot that spills “the tea” about people ratted the guy out for “knowing where the REAL Phoebe Nephele” was being held hostage! The location was the lesser pyramid.
- This quickly raised the questions of How & Why Phoebe is a hostage in the desert and if she's here, who went back to Havenspass looking like her several weeks ago?
- Phoebe was saved, but Buddy The Skunk died much like the prior day.
- The Party made it to and started traveling up the tunnel at the base of the Cloudfire Mountains which leads toward the top, which if they can reach the top they'll find themselves back in familiar territory.
- Session ended with them at the boundary they must pass to end Woodchuck Day. This boundary happens to be right at the base of the Blue Dragon's treasure stash.
- They must chose to finish getting to the top of the mountains through the dragon's lair or continue with the tunnel system that they know will eventually bring them face to face with the monster known as the Mons-ophagus.
- “Woodchuck Day Event”6)
- The Party + “Buddy” the Skunk emerged from the pyramid of last session into the desert, which started a time loop at exactly 6am on that day.
- The conditions to end the time loop involve escaping the Ensorcelled Desert alive, as a whole, either through the Cloudfire Mountains, by finding a way into the sea, or by other unexpected means.
- Time passes but if anyone dies before the whole party escapes, everyone falls asleep and they find themselves right back at the entrance to the pyramid at 6am before anything since they left there has happened.
- The following things occurred or were discovered and will remain true and can happen again, impacted only by the fact that Player Characters still have awareness of what has transpired or could transpire.
- A sand shark will arise in the desert if they head a certain direction from the pyramid.
- Not long after sunrise on that first day the witch known as Succu will do a flyby over the Cloudfire Mountains.
- A red dragon will land at a spot a little to the northwest of the pyramid at sunset on the first day, and then continue heading wherever it wants on subsequent days as events influence it.
- There is an oasis to the southeast of the pyramid where a 20 foot tall stone golem waits to chase people away.
- There is a lesser pyramid to the south that can be entered, although no one has yet.
- There is a fort to the northeast of the pyramid which is run by a huge trolls and a few kobold minions. The troll, named Harry, is lamenting that his girlfriend Sally has abandoned him to go eat her feelings away after he told her rudely that she snores. Being outside the walls of this fort after dark is dangerous because of swarms of vicious sand fleas.
- Sally is a little to the north of that fort where a modern fast food restaurant run by a couple of guys is, eating roast beef and cheddar sandwiches. The guys don't know their restaurant crosses over into the fantasy realm and just think that night shift is weird. They're probably high. The whole place vanishes from the fantasy realm at dawn.
- There is a dungeon to the immediate northeast of the pyramid that has sphinx inspired riddles and treasure in coin form. However, it is where the red dragon attacked and killed both Jules & Urist. Everyone else slept, and it became 6am again, with everyone alive back outside the pyramid, all things reset, escape from the desert not achieved.
- In an epic rebound of being able to focus after the prior session, this time7) Player Characters were railroaded under the premise of an old magic academy bully of Jules spotted her and The Party and ganged up to attack them, 12 wizards strong. An escape route opened up when a portal appeared shaped as Lugo's name, which Jules & co. escaped through only to find themself inside of a pyramid.
- Not knowing much of the how, why or where components to their predicament everyone was forced to be on their best most cooperative behavior to push through. Many oddities were encountered such as modern day eye glasses, steampunk gear, fast food wrappers, randomly hostile kobolds, the Book Of Spirits, and of course mummies.
- Phrases like “I CAST MEAT” were used and Buddy The Skunk was discovered & perhaps adopted, no one was really certain.
- Eventually The Party found the entrance to the pyramid only to realize it sits in what is known as the Ensorcelled Desert, which is the proper geographical name for the area on the other side of what they already knew as the Cloudfire Mountains.
-
- It is clear to the DM and probably most players that some force must push The Party along since examples from this session show they're disorganized.
- Note that Matilda has chosen Arcane Trickster as a subclass.
- The Party started the session by leaving Pigsfeet Canning without further drama.
- The Party then took on the role of being paid “escorts” to Orangebeard The Lovely to a party barge over in The Hops district to retrieve a package. It has been revealed that Orangebeard's company is called Berm Banana Company.
- The package was a Levelcus and it was quickly learned by visiting Levelcus Partners, a business of sorts in The Hops that a Levelcus is a high powered magical item that retails for 1000gp and is all the rage amongst the rich and powerful. Orangebeard now has one.
- Knowing that Orangebeard is probably a BBET (“Big Bad Evil Them”), and being completely scatterbrained as players overall led Urist to go along with a very side tracked group of companions, losing focus on all relevant plots currently active in this campaign…
- The Party investigated corrupted Scry Cameras, where they found Alex who told them the cameras are all modeled after an original magical A.I. that Eyrun, Jules & Alimir already know as A.L.I.Z.A..
- The Party went for a dungeon crawl in a Hops sewer full of Fey. This essentially showed their overall lack of cohesion.
- NEXT GAME A COUPLE OF THINGS WILL HAPPEN:
- During this session10) “The Party”, now united as a group featuring Eyrun, Jules, Urist, Alimir & Matilda finally investigated Pigsfeet Canning. It did however take a dramatic set of events to finally cause that to happen.
- Urist, after what we will officially call another date with Orangebeard The Lovely, wherein some “beard tugging” happened while blackout drunk, was convinced enough to be the Muscle Orangebeard needed… (cough) Err, um, anyway he led the party to rough up another place called Jammy John's and its owner John Cannery in order to make John consider selling his business to Orangebeard's company.
- Note that Urist initially thought Orangebeard was just trying to get John to do some canning of fruits, not sell the business, but apparently selling was what the pressure was really for!
- Vigilante “The Ku” delivered a note on an arrow to The Party informing them that Orangebeard was working with Pigsfeet Canning too.
- When The Party arrived at Pigsfeet Canning they encountered two guards. The Ku from atop a nearby building, incapacitated the guards, enabling The Party to get inside the building, past some fencing which had a maker's sign on it declaring “Berm Fencing”. All signs point to the Island Nation of Berm or Orangebeard's company being involved with the counterfeit money operation.
- Inside 500 counterfeit gold pieces were discovered in a crate, which were actually made of tin and much lighter than normal gold, but otherwise looked spot on.
- The session ended with them inside the building, on a cliffhanger for next time.
- Also during this session a little interaction with Mythburg law enforcement took place.
- Alimir, Urist & Eyrun all were charged fines for their attack on and robbery of Jake at the last session / former day of game time. City Watch officers Dim(human) & Sum(Minotaur) issued the fines and refused to take any flack from Alimir, the clear ringleader of the assault.
- Alimir went all “Karen Paladin” on the officers and led The Party to the City Watch's Cans Substation to speak to a manager. Here Alimir met District Commander Alianõong who sent him packing to the Cans Tribunal to argue his case.
- At the Tribunal, 3 heavily cloaked, anonymous city officials voted for the innocence or guilt of Alimir and his fellows. All charges were dropped, although marks were left on their permanent records.
- Last and probably least, Alimir decided to rob a seemingly abandoned cart in plain sight of Scry Cameras of some quartz, clown costumes and cheese. If anyone in law enforcement has a problem with that has yet to be discovered.
- As a negative character witness for Alimir in the future, Jake, of “62 Ball St” still remains out there unsatisfied with the paladin. However Jake is more fond of Eyrun who healed his daughter's feet and Matilda who officially returned his family heirloom gun to him.
-
- Alimir was found behind a dumpster in The Cans with only his clothes, a mysterious tattoo, nipple piercing, and lacking memories prior to when he met the party and for the time period since he left them until present.
- Urist went on his whatever it was at The Lobster Tank with Orangebeard The Lovely and was offered more time with them if he helps convince a canning company to work with Orangebeard.
- The Party crashed at Peg Leg Yeet's house. It is worth noting that The Party has more than one sailor type and they've befriended a captain without a ship and in Urist's case a Trade Ambassador from the Island Nation of Berm which is where Matilda is from. There's a lot of sailing connections happening quickly.
- The Party decided to screw around in a sewer marked “Undead” by Mythburg city workers. The sewer was trapped, full of undead, and was a hidden lair of a presumed mage.
- The presumed mage marked the door to their lair with a “V” and a journal, similarly marked, was recovered with notes about using a mass charm spell on the food at the Tin-Roast somehow as part of a plot to take over Mythburg. Alimir took this journal and The Party as a whole looted potions and other treasures from the lair, with the exception of “Jules The Paranoid”.
- Urist, Alimir & Eyrun broke up a street fight between a gunslinger named Jake who was supposedly owed 25 gold by the opposing party a mage looking lady named Victori. Jake needed the coins to get his daughter some healing and claimed Victori was a non paying deadbeat who's done this to a lot of people.
- Note that this confrontation was suspiciously close to the Undead Manhole with “V”'s lair.
- Victori slipped away while Jake was being taken down.
- Alimir took Jake's gun with no intention of giving it back.
- Breaking up the fight resulted in Jake nearly dying and needing help from Saint Olof's Church, LLC. A lesson was learned that healing is expensive here.
- The Quests section has been added to jog memories between sessions!
- This session12) was broken into two parts. The first part as found in the archived notes served as the closure of the Havenspass saga.
- This session13) began a new adventure for “The Party”, which is formed of Eyrun Nephele, Jules Jesko & Urist Saltbeard.
- At this time, everyone is Level 5.
- The Party traveled to the huge city of Mythburg, a place known for its magic academy and as a port city that dominates trade for the region.
- At The Lobster Tank, Urist got high on psychedelic mushrooms and had visions involving the color orange, including seeing an orange heart shape. Before leaving the bar he met a dwarf by the name of Orangebeard The Lovely who set up a follow up meeting, possibly a date, with him at their rented apartment for that evening.
- Suspiciously placed note: The Party met a sketchy tiefling hustler by the name of Riechears on the street trying to sell them love potions.
- At the Cans General Store The Party met Peg Leg Yeet, a halfling captain without a ship who, noting Urist as a sailor, invited them to visit his home and see his map collection at any time.
- At a later point The Party would take “Yeet” up on his offer with the hopes of using his place as a place to sleep. He offered them a room, which they found to have a bed and 5 Kuo-Toa Statues in it. Apparently Yeet uses these for his personal healing and wellness.14)
- In an attempt to retrieve their imprisoned gear from inside the Blue Bag Of Hoarding, The Party visited the run down store known as Outkast Magics. The proprietor, a gnome wizard named Steph-ius failed to solve their issue and referred them along to someone named Alex.
- Alex turned out to be a “City Mage Engineer Third Tier” working in The Cans on a Magical Water Desalination Project. They were able to temporarily dispel the bag which ejected the contents to be retrieved. The payment for this was Alex got to keep the bag.
- A Berserker Axe & Dread Helm15) were ejected from the bag as well, even though they were not part of the loot put in by Urist & Eyrun previously. It is safe to assume some former owner of the bag tossed those in.
- The Party took on a quest given by a city maintenance worker, a dragonborn named Kaelado to clear crocodiles out of a sewer and managed to partially complete the quest before running away when a mage appeared in the sewers. The worker claimed he had to file a report about the attempt with the city. +5 gold reward.
- Mythburg appears to have a lot of bureaucracy.
- The Party took on a quest to retrieve a missing heirloom thimble that a group of street urchins known as The Pirate Crabs sole from a tailor, a tortle by the name of Stefupit. They peacefully negotiated the return of the thimble in exchange for a gold necklace. +20 gold reward.
- While the stake out was happening Urist arrived at the apartment of Orangebeard The Lovely and engaged in an evening of conversation, arm wrestling, and doing shrooms. He revealed to them that he has some past anger issues, and is on the hook to explain that when they meet again the next evening at The Lobster Tank.17)
- The Party caught gossip about a canning facility called Pigsfeet Canning. One of the workers from there revealed that they'd been turned away and told the place was closed. No one could find any reason the place should ever be closed and it had never been before based on local gossip. Other rumors implied that something suspicious must be happening there at the current time.18)
Session Notes Archive
-
- Game session notes starting after the last archive, covering the eventual exit from Goldvale, arrival in the Havenspass region, the interactions with Jules & Eyrun's parents, and ultimately Eyrun's accomplishment of becoming an adult in the eyes of the Goliath community by trekking to the Cloud Giant Shrine within the Cloudfire Mountains. These notes end as “The Party”, only consisting of Eyrun, Jules & Urist say their goodbyes and leave Havenspass supposedly forever. The formation of the AAP is included in these notes as well.
-
- Game session notes from roughly the start of the campaign with just Eyrun & Jules in late 2025 through March 2026 wherein Urist & Alimir had also joined the party. Largely covers intro to Goldvale, the Toc Clan Coal Mine Event & eventually brings about the Crompse Causal Loop.
