Shrine Of Hayte
The Shrine Of Hayte is nothing more than an old weathered carved rock pillar of sorts surrounded by a graveyard1) with a couple mausoleums, dedicated to the old and largely forgotten god Hayte. It is located in the Dense Forest to the southwest of Goldvale.
Development
- The Cult Of Alden was here slowly and methodically digging up graves to try and find the Shovel Of Alden2).
- The party3) returned to this area, broke into the large mausoleum, fought some skeletons and a ghoul, and acquired the Shovel Of Alden. For future reference the (undisturbed) small mausoleum and the large one are both 12 feet tall. The large one has been plundered. The entry method of the small one is a simple Lazarus door that opens only by pushing a large stone slab from the inside. Getting in from the outside requires some hard core stone breaking action.
- During this same visit a BEHOLDER was observed in the middle of the night coming to the shrine and leaving. But why?4)
- Skip tailed the party here during this visit as well and “helped” them fight the undead. Skip is known for hating on the undead though.
- When the party fought the ghoul during this visit it ran to the Shrine of Hayte and no goodly clerical spells were able to attack it when near the shrine itself, and it seemed to harness extra powers for itself while near the shrine, including a slow regeneration of HP.
- When Skip snapped & went looking for demon scrolls there hidden in the smaller mausoleum, the whole Crompse Causal Loop came about it furthered cemented the historical value of this place.
- Eventually a group of 6 members of The Cult Of Alden would take Sunny the owlbear captive for use in some sort of sacrifice ritual5), which caught the attention of Jules, Urist, Alimir, Matilda & Vesper. During a rescue attempt Matilda slyly befriended the cult members, Sunny escaped into the Dense Forest around there, and a couple new facts were learned by Matilda about The Shrine Of Hayte.
- She cannot die when she is within 20 feet of the shrine.
- If she were to touch the shrine, her Shovel Of Alden inspired “changes” will happen much faster.
