Alimir, the Redeemed Blade
Alimir was born into a modest high elven family on the outskirts of a bustling city.2) His father served as a respected priest3), teaching compassion, humility, and devotion to the gods.4) His mother worked tirelessly to provide for their small household and instilled in him the value of perseverance. Though surrounded by good influences, Alimir often found himself drawn toward excitement and adventure beyond the quiet life his parents envisioned for him.
As a young elf, he fell in with a local gang.5) What began as petty mischief soon became a life of crime. It was there that he met Roderic, a human boy with quick wit and boundless ambition. Despite their differences, the two became inseparable. They fought side by side, protected one another, and slowly climbed the ranks of the organization. For years, Roderic was more than a friend—he was the brother Alimir had chosen.
For a time, life seemed good.
Then everything changed.
During a routine supply run, Alimir was ambushed by a group of unknown attackers. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, he was beaten nearly to death and left bleeding in the wilderness. Driven by determination alone, he staggered toward home.
What awaited him was a nightmare.
His house was engulfed in flames. The home he had known all his life burned before his eyes. His parents were nowhere to be found. Whether they had fled, been taken, or perished in the fire, he could not know. The sight shattered him.6)
Clinging to his last shred of hope, Alimir sought out Roderic. Surely his friend would know what had happened.
He rushed across the city and burst into Roderic’s home.
Inside stood the very men who had attacked him.
Rage consumed him. Convinced that Roderic had betrayed him7), Alimir drew steel and charged. He never reached his target. The attackers beat him down once more, breaking bone and spirit alike. Barely conscious, he was dragged beyond the city limits and discarded like refuse.
As darkness claimed him, only two memories remained clear: the pain of betrayal and the feeling of his broken body striking the dirt.
By all rights, Alimir should have died.
Instead, he awoke in the care of a small order of clerics8) who had discovered him and carried him to safety. They tended his wounds, sheltered him, and asked for nothing in return. For the first time in years, Alimir was surrounded by people who expected no payment, no loyalty, and no violence.
As his body healed, so too did his soul.
He listened to the teachings of the clergy and found comfort in faith. The guilt of his criminal past weighed heavily upon him. He remembered every theft, every threat, and every innocent person harmed by his actions. The clerics never excused his sins, but they showed him that redemption was possible.
In time, Alimir devoted himself fully to their teachings and became one of their own.
Before the altar of his chosen god9), he swore sacred vows. He would hunt down the corruption that had destroyed his family. He would uncover the truth behind Roderic’s betrayal—whether real or imagined. And above all else, he would spend the rest of his life protecting others from the suffering he had once helped create.
Leaving behind the life of a criminal, Alimir took up sword and shield as a Paladin. Every battle is an act of penance. Every innocent saved is a step toward redemption.
Though years have passed, the memory of that burning home still haunts his dreams. Somewhere, the answers await him. Somewhere, Roderic still lives.
And one day, Alimir will face his former friend once more—either to deliver justice, or to learn a truth far more painful than betrayal.
Alimir was officially declared “Lost in the Cloudfire Mountains” after the player missed several critical sessions. There are theories as to how this happened in game, and in real life, but none confirmed.
