Caislen Campaign Notes

Fort Scale is a recently constructed palisades style wooden fortress on the outskirts of the Eastern Goldvale area, in the hill country that was once Toc Clan lands.

Current Status: ABANDONED.

• It was built by Lizardfolk quickly near the start of the campaign, meaning very discretely over the last several months while The Party has been running around.
• The walls are 15 feet high.
• It is about 100×100 feet in width.
• There is one single gate at the front.
• There seems to be a walking platform along the edges on the inside allowing patrols of the walls.
• No one has seen inside the walls yet.

• The Lizardfolk were the original builders of this fort and lived in it for only a very short span.
• The Lizardfolk abducted Tod Fuzzybutt's wife Dorthy Fuzzybutt while they were in the area which resulted in Tod offering the party 100gp to get her back. Tod did not provide a potential reason for the abduction.
• The Lizardfolk spoke Draconic, and it could be proven if they understand Common or not.
• Phil confessed to The Party his concern that the Lizardfolk would use Fort Scale as an invasion point to come after his Necro Cave because Lizardfolk are very anti-undead types usually. He also expressed concern for Coal Goblin Keep in case they decided to capture it as a better base.
• The Party had a first encounter with Fort Scale upon hearing everyone's concerns noted above and ran off quickly upon discovering a well organized Lizardfolk existing there, complete with what appeared to be different classes of them.
• On a subsequent game session¹⁾ The Party returned along with The Hermit and the Lizardfolk gave up their captive and agreed to depart within 48 hours, after chatting privately with The Hermit…²⁾
• Be advised that Tod Fuzzybutt, prior to The Hermit solving this, sent a courier to Castle Caislen requesting help in this matter.³⁾
• What was never known about the time the Lizardfolk were there would be:
  • Was there a motive for the abduction or was it random?
  • Do they speak anything other than Draconic?
  • These Lizardfolk likely had a name, an affiliation, a premise, something that brought them here in the first place which has yet to be discovered. Being run off so quickly that may or may not ever be discovered.
