The Dam Holiday
On the 2nd day of a Winter season in Goldvale, everyone in the town woke up to find a couple hundred beavers causing havoc in the local waterways. This was due to the infamous Matilda making her exit from town the night before and summoning all the beavers using her Bellows Of Beaver Summoning. Her plan was to mess up the waterways of Goldvale, disrupting everything relating back to the Goldfish Pond, via ecological terrorism. Beavers when left unchecked would indeed dam up all the drainage ditches, irrigation channels, and other aquatic features that Goldvale is known for. This would in turn disrupt what is known as the “The Mesh”, the protective schools of goldfish able to freely swim around the entire area that is Goldvale proper.
All would have been lost, but the brave heroes Jules, Urist, Vesper & Sirona managed to negotiate an accord between the people of Goldvale and the vampire residents of Sucker Lake. The deal struck was that if the vampires came in mass after sunset on this 2nd day of Winter and went on a bloody beaver murdering rampage, with the blessing of the townsfolk, whose spokesperson is of course Jack, then the people of Goldvale shall recognize the vampires of Sucker Lake as a friendly independent township style entity on good terms and respect that going forth. The spokesperson for the vampires in turn was Vules.
Thus is came to pass that the vampires entered town after sunset and murdered roughly 200 beavers, clearing them from the waterways and therefor restoring the access for the goldfish. Left behind in their wake were the bodies of all the beavers. The townsfolk quickly turned these into food, pelts and whatever else in celebration. Thus “The Dam Holiday” was born to celebrate these events.
