The relic happened to be one of the **Half Star Portal Stones**, which must have been founds or looted by Jack on some adventure earlier in his life. If **Markoff** doing a ritual triggered this course of events, we'll never know. Not knowing anything significant about where a half star portal stone sends things, the critters in question, the "[[AAP]]", walked through and came out at **The Oakenveil Portal**. Not long after that they would find the lair of [[Shork Lefar Spellbook|Shork Lefar]] and murder him, officially ending any hope of anyone being able to explain how all these more recent events came to pass near the **Oaken Veil**.
