 When I first slipped this into a game I had zero plan for a long term Ted concept because it was just supposed to be a dumb skeleton NPC that hung out with the party as filler for awhile. When I first slipped this into a game I had zero plan for a long term Ted concept because it was just supposed to be a dumb skeleton NPC that hung out with the party as filler for awhile.

 The beautiful thing about Ted, the skeleton, was that he only exists for as long as the Ring Of Ted remains on his finger. If Ted gets killed, the ring de-animates the skeleton and current incarnation of Ted is simply lost. BUT because all RPG players get attached, it is possible to slide the ring onto an entirely different skeleton found laying around anywhere (just dig something up) and restart the whole process, raising a new Skeleton Also Named Ted and going through the motions. Familiar, but a LV 1 restart, maybe with some slightly different outcomes than the last incarnation(s). The beautiful thing about Ted, the skeleton, was that he only exists for as long as the Ring Of Ted remains on his finger.  +====Actual Game Blurb====
 +//*from when the players got a description first hand.//
 +
 +The Ring Of Ted is a simple looking metal ring, but its creator imbued it with the power to bring a skeleton, any skeleton so long as it isn’t already an undead, and turn it into an undead skeleton that interestingly has a blank slate for their character/personality. This skeleton immediately becomes sentient and starts learning from those around it, usually being heavily influenced by the behavior patterns, alignments and goals of those same people. If Ted is destroyed, the ring can be used repeatedly to create new Teds who will have no association with the prior Teds.
 +At the time a Ted rises, it gets a blank character sheet, fresh stat rolls, and counts as a fighter class character. Teds have no flesh so can’t have natural vocal chords to talk with. They are, skeletons until whatever fate and experience say otherwise. No two Teds will ever be alike.

 +====In The Caislen Campaign====
 +
 +In the current campaign setting **The Ring Of Ted** is known in common lore and legend as a powerful artifact that does something like what is described above. It started out hidden in the greater [[Goldvale]] area and was a plot device to draw adventurers to the area to seek it and a couple other artifacts known to be somewhere locally. A crude "replica" sits on display at [[The Card House]], made by someone more as art, than as a factually accurate replica. The replica is a vaguely greenish ceramic looking ring simply sitting in a glass display case.
 +
 +The **real** Ring Of Ted is far more complex looking. It is made of jade, carved with runes known to the [[Dwarf|Toc Clan Dwarves]], and it gives off a slight glow that grows brighter whenever it is near a suitable skeleton that it could be slipped on to. The ring was hidden away far in the depths of a remnant of Toc Clan civilization technically located beneath [[Sucker Lake]].
 +
 +====Relation To Urist====
 +
 +In this campaign setting the ring is linked to the [[Dwarf|Toc Clan Dwarves]]. The jade it is made from was probably mined from the [[backstories|Marmyan Wastes]]. It was something that [[Alden]] was said to want, and thus heavily protected and hidden, ultimately on the finger of a statue that serves as a shrine to [[gods|Maxeaul]]. That is, until [[Urist]] took the **Ring Of Ted** for himself after discovering that it bears great resemblance to his own jade ring and growing collection thereof. Therefor in this campaign setting, Urist, or his kin, have history with the ring and now it is loose in the world in the hands of The Party.
