Smacky's Whiskey
Smacky's Whiskey1) is a fantasy whiskey for game purposes2). It comes in an 8oz can that you can imagine as being a pop-top beer can style, made of very low quality metal that is completely useless for repurposing/reforging as the idea here is to create a disposable but portable alcoholic beverage for fantasy characters to be able to drag around and get into “situations” with. Below is some real world data on what happens when a human drinks 8oz of whiskey as a starter point for settling arguments in game. Effects on non human races & varying CON stats TBD.
Effects of Drinking Approximately 8 oz of Whiskey
Drinking about 8 ounces (approximately 237 ml) of standard 80-proof (40% ABV) whiskey represents a large amount of alcohol for most people. This equates to roughly 5.3 standard drinks in the U.S. (where one standard drink contains about 0.6 oz or 14 grams of pure alcohol).
- 8 oz of 40% ABV whiskey contains about 3.2 oz of pure alcohol.
- This is over 5 times a moderate daily limit and qualifies as binge drinking (typically 5+ drinks for men or 4+ for women in a short period).
Estimated Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC)
Effects vary significantly based on body weight, sex, food intake, metabolism, tolerance, and drinking speed. Assuming consumption over 1–2 hours with no food:
- Average 170 lb (77 kg) male: Peak BAC could reach 0.20–0.30% or higher.
- Lighter person (120–140 lb) or female: BAC could exceed 0.30–0.40%.
