This staff casts fireballs per the terms that follow.¹⁾ It is made of wood with many embedded fire opals throughout it. It is enchanted to not be flammable.

• DAMAGE: 6d6 magical fire damage impacting the entire radius.
• RADIUS: a 20 foot RADIUS from where the staff targeted the actual fireball to land.
• SAVE: DEX SAVE DC 10 for half damage.
• RANGE: Up to 40 feet from the person using the staff.
• ATTACK: Use as a RANGED ATTACK weapon with your DEX bonus.
  • MISSES TARGET: DM gets to move the impact point 5 feet in any direction.
  • CRITICAL FAIL/NATURAL 1: DM gets to move the impact point up to 25 feet.²⁾
• CHARGES: This staff has 3 charges per day and recharges at dawn.³⁾

So if the range is up to 40 feet away from the character using this staff, and it has a blast radius of 20 feet, then at best the character will be no more than 20 feet out of the blast. This means the character that wields this can't quite hide far away from combat, they must be brave, or foolish.

The fireball itself streaks in a STRAIGHT LINE from the character to the target. Please note the implications of this. If anything intercepts/is in the way, then it'll trigger the fireball prematurely.

Anyone may use it so long as they can pronounce the word “fireball” in common.

Any true wizard using this staff gains their proficiency bonus when making the ranged attack & is able to summon 10d6 damage instead of the default lesser amount.

Due to a branch in the timeline from the Nephele Timeline Branch Event, this staff exists in the hands of the party & an alternate version of it was used by Alimir to throw into the Warlock Well as a deal to get his memories back. See also: Kelthor's Book Of Great Awareness. Being a fire weapon, this led to Alimir making a deal with a powerful fire elemental entity in another dimension.
