Julu is a woman in her mid-to-late thirties with fair skin, dark brown hair usually worn in a loose braid or simply tied back, and calm gray-green eyes. She carries herself with quiet self-assurance rather than theatrical flair. Her black clothing is functional rather than dramatic. Well made but unassuming, with occasional small gold or silver details that match the cap on her staff, and a simple red cape.1) She is rarely seen without the staff, which she uses casually as a walking stick when not casting.
Julu is patient, dryly humorous, and independent. She prefers quiet company to crowds, enjoys reading or simply sitting with a cup of tea (or watching cats), and does not impose herself on others. She is genuinely good natured and helpful when needed, but she has no interest in leadership or drama.
Julu comes from a family of modest herbalists and apothecaries in a coastal town south of Goldvale.2) Her sorcerous abilities manifested in her late teens after a minor ancestral magical event (nothing dramatic, just a brief exposure to a residual enchantment on a family heirloom that “woke” something in her). She decided to wander to the Hylund region recently3) specifically because of its reputation for secluded highland forests and relative isolation. She arrived around the time of a recent forest fire and her first experience was randomly helping out some wildlife that got injured in that and dowsing some still glowing embers in the forest. She also came to the area because she heard of the area’s rare high elevation herbs.4) She's likely to wander around and catalog plants if left to her own devices.
